Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to bring my own equipment or set?

Go equipment is generally brought by club folks. However to play go you only need half as many sets as players, and most people generally bring one or more set, we often have more then enough. So generally no you don’t need to bring equipment but it doesn’t hurt to bring your travel set if you got one.

[editors note]: If you are in the market for a set, there’s a nice full sized travel board and a set of plastic stones available on store.baduk.club for a reasonable price that is, in my opinion, better then the similar priced items you’ll find on a popular rain forest themed online retailer.

Is there a charge, or membership fee?

Nope, there’s no formal fee or membership dues or anything like that. We don’t charge for coming to meetups. However we do often play in cafes and operating businesses and it’s always polite to patronize the establishment that’s allowing us to use their space.

Do I need to formally join or register?

Nope, there’s no formal membership signup or anything like that. If you’d like, baduk.club allows you to register your account as part of the Twin Cities Go club and mark your attendance. Another thing you can do if you have an AGA account would be to list The Twin Cities Go Club as your local club.

I don’t know how to play, or I’m not very good, I’d love to learn would someone teach me?

Absolutely, the Twin Cities Go club is for everyone who wants to play Go. We are always willing to teach anyone even if you know literally nothing about it.

Absolutely, the Twin Cities Go club is for everyone who wants to play Go. Historically the folks who are at the meetup have skewed towards collage age and older. There are a few younger players and they are always welcome.

Are children welcome?

Is there anything I can do to support the Twin Cities Go Club?

The best thing you can do is to join us to play go, the second best thing would be to get the word out, let people you know who play Go or want to learn that we exist!
